French - beginners, part I

Description

This course is reserved exclusively for students in the Bachelor of European Studies programme. Students of other programmes are not allowed to take this course in their programme. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have reached the A1 (Breakthrough/Beginner) level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). They will have acquired an important group of general (GC), transversal (TC) and specific competences (SC), and will be able to: Comprehension (Listening and Reading) Recognise familiar words and very basic phrases concerning themselves, their family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly (GC1, SC1) Understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices, posters and in catalogues (GC1, SC2). Speaking (Interaction and Production) Interact in a simple way, asking and answering simple questions about immediate needs or on very familiar topics, provided the other person is prepared to help (GC4, GC5, TC6, SC1) Use a series of simple phrases and sentences to describe their family, other people, and where they live (GC5, TC1, SC1) Introduce themselves and others (SC1) Writing Write a short, simple postcard (e.g., sending holiday greetings) (GC5, TC7, SC2) Fill in forms with personal details, for example entering their name, nationality and address on a hotel registration form (GC5, SC2) Intercultural Competence Recognise and use basic forms of greeting, leave-taking, and address appropriate in formal and informal contexts in the target language-speaking world (GC3, GC7, TC10)
