German - inter/advanced, part I

Description

This course is reserved exclusively for students in the Bachelor of European Studies programme. Students of other programmes are not allowed to take this course in their programme. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have consolidated and advanced their proficiency within the B1 (Threshold/Intermediate) level of the CEFR. They will be able to: Comprehension (Listening and Reading) Understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, or leisure, including the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs (GC1, TC3, SC1) Understand texts that consist mainly of high-frequency everyday or job-related language, and understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters (GC1, TC3, SC2) Speaking (Interaction and Production) Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken (GC4, TC6, SC1) Enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g., family, hobbies, work, travel, current events) (GC2, TC1, SC1) Connect phrases in a simple way to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions (GC5, TC2, SC2) Briefly give reasons and explanations for their opinions and plans (GC5, TC4, SC2) Writing Write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest (GC5, TC7, SC2) Write personal letters or emails describing experiences and impressions (GC5, TC8, SC2) Intercultural Competence Recognise and comment on different cultural customs related to social life, work, and travel in the target language-speaking world (GC3, GC7, TC10)
