Description

On completion of this course unit The student has an understanding of major planetary and human societal challenges (e.g. climate change, deforestation, water pollution, biodiversity, inequality, various forms of injustice) and can assess their causes and consequences on organisations and specific organisational/economic domains. On completion of this course unit, the student will be able to: explain the principles, characteristics and application possibilities of the wide range of techniques for air treatment and odour nuisance reduction, water treatment, soil and groundwater remediation and waste treatment, and indicate the parameters that determine the choice of technique. From a knowledge of the wide range of control techniques (water, air and soil pollution, nuisance problems, waste), assess a technique within a given context. proposes process-integrated and/or structurally preventive improvements to reduce emissions and waste flows and the consumption of raw materials and energy, paying attention to the principles of the circular economy. In a well-defined (simplified) case (e.g. a well-defined process in a company, with specified preconditions), proposing process-integrated and/or structurally preventive improvements to control air, water and soil pollution, and/or making a motivated choice for a well-defined post-treatment or remediation technique.
