Description

Upon completion of this course, the student is able to understand the relationship between business strategy, information strategy and the operationalization of the two in information systems, is able to compare the information strategy and the business strategy and decide whether these are aligned, is able to explain the role of information systems for internal and external control in the context of IS governance frameworks, knows the most important theoretical frameworks of technology acceptance and value of IS and is able to apply them in practical examples; the student understands the different dimensions of these frameworks and how they can be measured, is able to explain the purpose and value of Enterprise Architecture and is able to explain EA frameworks with concrete examples, can read and understand BPMN process models, knows the key steps of the business process management cycle and is able to apply fundamental BPM principles to simple examples, can read and understand ER, EER, and relational information models; can query relational databases with SQL, can explain the role of information systems for decision support as well as how business intelligence systems can be designed and used, understands the difference between predictive and descriptive data mining and understands how basic analytics techniques work, understands different aspects, technologies, and business models in an e-business context.
