Description
Objectives: Engineering competences: I1 Analysing and solving problems: The students are motivated to think about the goal and issues of different protocols and implementations. Practical competences: P1 operationalize: The students must be able to set up a network using the network cables they have manufactured themselves during the lab sessions. Generic competences: G1 Retrieving and processing information: The students can use a relatively complete syllabus. They must be able to lay connections between different subjects.. The students are expected to analyse different protocols used in the Internet. Therefore, they have to do research to recognize the different protocols and descriptions. G2 Communicating with professional colleagues: Students have to do research on a theme in the field of data communications. They have to present their findings to their fellow students through a presentation. G3 Critical reflection: During the lab sessions the students will be asked to perform network analysis using a network analyser tool. They have to retrieve relevant information out of the results. G4 Cooperate in a team in different roles G5 Professionalism: Students are shown that data communication is evolving very fast. A logical consequence is that later in their professional career they will have to follow the new evolutions and they will need to follow training sessions. Through independent research work, the knowledge concerning de functioning and functionality of a switch in a network.
