Learning results K1 Basic scientific-disciplinary knowledge and insight I1 Analyzing and solving problems G1 Acquiring and processing information G2 Communicating with peers and non-peers G5 Professionalism Objectives Theory lectures At the end of this course unit, the student can explain the fundamental concepts about the composition of matter, atomic structure and periodic properties, chemical bonding, intermolecular forces, the fundamental concepts about acid-base, redox reactions, the thermodynamics and kinetics of chemical reactions and the chemical equilibrium. In addition, the student also has knowledge and insight into organic chemistry and the importance of organic chemistry for society, both concerning its application in different industrial sectors (petrochemistry, fine chemicals, plastics,...) (K1, I1). Lab The student can look up and process scientific and technical information in a targeted way. The student is also able to correctly refer to this information (G1). The student can make a scientific report (with graphs and tables) according to the standards. The student is also able to make responsible summaries (G2). The student can work accurately (G5) with attention to safety aspects (labelling, toxicity, flammability). The student learns how to handle chemicals and solvents (K1).
