Description
The student is familiar with the basic concepts of statics, kinematics, and dynamics of rigid bodies in three-dimensional space. The student understands the relationships between the fundamental quantities in statics, kinematics, and dynamics of rigid bodies in three-dimensional space and can mathematically express these relationships in scalar and vector equations. The student can apply the basic laws of statics to rigid bodies in three-dimensional space. The student can apply the basic laws of kinematics to rigid bodies in three-dimensional space. The student can apply the basic laws of dynamics to rigid bodies in planar motion or a motion that can be reduced to a planar motion. The student establishes the connection between physical concepts (force, moment, displacement, velocity, acceleration) and the mathematical form and properties of equations. The student can analyse the equilibrium and/or motion for a simple concrete technical realization. The student becomes familiar with the orders of magnitude of mechanical quantities. "Rigid bodies" refers to both simple rigid bodies and composite bodies consisting of a series of simple rigid bodies (e.g., mechanisms). The students develop the following attitudes: diligence, a critical attitude, and independence.
