Environmental Technology with an Introduction to Analytical Chemistry
Description
The student is expected to show insight into the main environmental problems and their mutual relations. The focus is mostly on industrial and technological aspects. Techniques to prevent or cure environmental problems are also discussed. The student will learn some of the principles, techniques and methods of analytical chemistry. Applications of the analytical techniques are illustrated and practiced during the lectures, exercise sessions and practicals. The student learns to pay attention to accuracy and precision of experimental data. At the end of this course, students should: be able to describe the evolution of the general policy on environmental problems be able to describe pollutants, their formation, sources, properties and effects, for air, water and waste pollution be able to explain methods for controlling environmental pollution, both in-process and end-of-pipe be able to propose methods for controlling environmental pollution: air, water and waste pollution know, be able to explain and apply some of the principles and techniques of analytical chemistry be able to solve exercises for the analytical chemistry taught be able to report analytical results, complete, apply error theory
