Description

After completing this course, the student is able to: describe the basic principles of databases; build a conceptual data model; describe the relational implementation model and convert a conceptual schema into an implementation schema; set up a (relational) database; work practically with relational query languages, in particular SQL; make the connection between a database and a program; identify when and in what way indexes are useful; identify the ways in which query optimization is important; explain principles of query processing, data security, distribution of databases; explain some techniques and applications (such as data warehouses, data mining)
