Description

Students can illustrate and clarify the organic link between art (art creation, art production) on the one hand and the socio-economic reality of the social background on the other hand; situate visual art (paintings, tapestries, sculpture) in the European production and market landscape from the Middle Ages to the present day; formulate relevant research questions and strategies, e.g. by analysing a number of publications by leading authors. Students know that economic factors often had a decisive influence on iconography and style of artworks.
