Academic Arabic I
Description
The course presents strategies for students to read and use Arabic in academic contexts. The students acquire knowledge, insight and skills with regard to reading, understanding and analysis of various texts in papyri, manuscripts and printed forms. After completing this course, students can: - paraphrasing or translating a long, complex text into Dutch using tools within a reasonable time. - translate complex sentences and (with tools) long text fragments into Arabic. - write and summarize long text fragments in Arabic. - understand a long complex Arabic text without tools and can answer questions about the content of the text in Arabic. - understand a long complex audio-visual fragment without tools and can report on this and answer questions in Arabic. - write a long and complex text about a freely chosen or assigned subject. - provide a long and complex oral presentation on a freely chosen or assigned subject
