Description

The aim of the course is to acquire an active command of a number of basic concepts and skills necessary for an in-depth study of Italian literature. After attending the course, students have an active basic knowledge of the main genres, currents, authors, and literary actors that have shaped Italian literary culture since the second half of the nineteenth century; students have also gained insight into the specific features and developments of contemporary Italian literary culture. The course unit enables students to identify and understand the main formal characteristics of literary texts (linguistic and stylistic variation, narrative perspective, narrative structures, rhetorical figures, ...) and their functional meaning within a broader cultural and social perspective.
