Global Economic Trends and Transitions, 500-1800

Description

The course aims at advanced insight into the fundamental economic and social structures of pre-modern societies. The course invites students to reflect upon the fundamental principles of historical and contemporary economies and structural societal evolutions. By reading the latest research articles, students will become acquainted with the newest insights into social and economic history. Following this course students will learn how to debate and formulate an argument during the classical debates and learn to present and display historical knowledge to a broader audience by developing a museum exhibition. In a short academic paper students will answer a research question on social and economic history and demonstrate their ability to see connections between the topics and concepts in this course.
