The aim of this course is to familiarise the students with techniques used in the archaeological sciences. This course has the goal to: teach the principles and applications of dating techniques in precise sciense so that a critical interpretation of a dating result is possible offer an overview of the different techniques which allow a reconstruction of the palaeoenvironment, considering the possibilities and restrictions of every technique teach the principles of instrumental techniques for the chemical, mineralogical and petrographical analysis of matter and artefacts offer an overview of the applications of instrumental techniques in solving archaeological questions (provenance, age, historical economic value...) concerning artefacts and their raw materials throughout time
