Sight Translation and Introduction to Simultaneous Interpreting English
Description
Students can: - provide sight translation into Dutch and into English, - interpret short, slow speeches from the foreign language into Dutch and vice versa (‘beginner’ simultaneous), - fluently, spontaneously, accurately and purposefully use their foreign language in oral communication - functionally and creatively apply the knowledge of the working language. - skilfully handle Dutch in diverse translation and interpretation contexts at the advanced level of a professional native speaker. - apply an advanced knowledge of the economic, business, political, cultural and social context of the linguistic region in a concrete translation or interpreting context. - apply the correct terminology according to the cultural and institutional context. - detect intercultural differences and take them into account when translating and interpreting. - independently monitor changes in the political, economic, social and cultural context of the foreign linguistic region, and its conceptual framework.
