Water Resources and River Engineering
Description
In this course, the basic concept of wave mechanics based on fluid mechanics and hydraulics will be instructed. Main contents include small amplitude waves theory, wave refraction, diffraction and reflection, estimation of reflection and transmission past an transition, tsunami propagation and run-up height, wave maker theory, analysis of tidal currents and prediction of flood, and design and planning of coastal structures. The laboratory experiments include estimation of reflection and transmission coefficients on various breakwaters, and prediction of overtopped water quantity. The generation of various water waves will also be carried out.
