Description

This course provides some of the essential mathematical techniques to mathematicians and physical scientists, and applies them to scientific problems. The course covers basic material on multiple integrals of scalar functions as well as line and surface integrals of vector fields, the theorems of Gauss, Green and Stokes, Fourier series and integrals. It also introduces some of the common partial differential equations of applied mathematics and methods to solve them. It also covers some topics on ordinary differential equations. Incompatible: 2001ENG Advanced ENG Mathematics, 2203NSC Mathematics 2A. Prerequisites: (1201SCG Linear Algebra or 1010ENG Engineering Mathematics 1) AND (1202SCG Calculus I or 1020ENG Engineering Mathematics 2) (Please note: for students enrolled in Program 1567 1201SCG Linear Algebra is a co-requisite). Students must pass both courses to enrol in 2205NSC.
