Discrete structures are foundational in that many areas of computer science require the ability to work with concepts from discrete structures and it is pervasive in the areas of data structures and algorithms. Discrete structures includes important material from such areas as set theory, relations, functions, logic, proof techniques, basic counting graph theory, and linear algebra.
