Advanced Differential Equations and Modelling
Description
This course covers the applications of differential equations to model complex phenomena. This begins from the applications of systems of ordinary differential equations (both linear and non-linear) using matrix and phase plane methods. Techniques such as the Frobenius method and Green's functions are used for solving ordinary linear differential equations, followed by use of Bessel functions with applications to initial value, boundary value problems. Analytic techniques for solving linear partial differential equations (including Laplace and wave equation in three dimensions) are also studied. Prerequisite: 2203NSC Mathematics 2A or 2205NSC Calculus II.
