Engineering Electromagnetics
Description
All electrical signals produce electromagnetic fields. Therefore, it is vital to understand the generation and manipulation of these fields. This course covers classical electrostatics, including charge and charge density in volumes, force due to charge, electric field intensity, electric potential, and electric flux density. It also explores magnetostatics, including magnetic field intensity and flux density, magnetic forces, magnetic potential, and inductance. Time-varying fields are covered, including moving conductors, transformers, displacement current, and generators. The course aims to provide an understanding of Maxwell's equations as applied to engineering problems. This fundamental theory is then used to explore the principles of plane-wave propagation in lossless and lossy media. It is highly recommended that students had completed 2205NSC (Calculus II).
