Managing in Complexity
Description
Context and complexity: The current worldwide global context of economy, politics, natural environment and society makes management quite complex. This increasing complexity cannot be avoided. It is indispensable that people transform complexity from a problem into an asset. Complexity may at a first glance be characterized by the necessity of interdisciplinary approaches of reality, by an increasing level of uncertainty in our lives and for any action, and by the necessity to communicate with others and to integrate otherness in every daily action and operation. Objectives: As a consequence, the course objectives are: - To make the students used to an interdisciplinary approach of reality thanks to a wide scope of possible approaches of complexity, - To train the students in working, acting, living under uncertainty, making profit of any emergent phenomenon or weak signal vs. suffering them, - To develop personal, individual and collective relational skills in order to favour positive collective actions to tackle complexity and complex situations when making decisions. The course organization: Taking into account the above objectives, the course will present, thanks to a wide range of professors coming from various disciplinary departments (at least 6 disciplines represented), a series of theoretical and practical issues related to complex situations
