Description

This course is designed for those aiming to obtain a teaching license for the religious subject (Bible studies) at Christian junior and senior high schools. Its purpose is to cultivate foundational knowledge, techniques, and mindset necessary for teaching religious subjects (Bible studies). Students who have experienced religious education (Bible studies) at their previous schools report on the educational content (lessons, curriculum, worship, extracurricular activities). Those without such experience report on their own secondary education content (moral education, curriculum, educational philosophy). Focusing on differences in educational content, the course explores the significance of Christian education. Students reconsider their educational experiences and engage in presentations and discussions on themes such as the founding philosophy of Christian schools, educational pillars, curriculum, relationships between religion and social issues, the role of religious subject teachers, student understanding and educational challenges, and textbook/material research. It is recommended that registrants have already completed Religious Education Method A1 and A2. Please check the 'Faculty of Theology Course Guidelines' for registration requirements. Students will identify challenges in Christian education through reviewing their own secondary education experiences and develop the wisdom, philosophy, and thought to overcome these challenges. Through presentations and discussions, students will explore the essence of Christian education and cultivate its mission.
