Description

This course is positioned as a comprehensive summary of the teacher training program. Students review their previous coursework, recognize their lacking teaching skills, and consider what qualities and abilities are necessary for teachers. They also reflect on their student life to identify deficiencies and how to grow as future teachers. Using the founding spirit of Doshisha University as a guide, students learn the social skills required as professionals and teachers. Furthermore, students consider the strengths of being teachers who graduated from Doshisha University and their respective faculties, clarifying their ideal teacher image and challenges to overcome as they prepare to become teachers. Students will develop awareness as teachers graduated from Doshisha University, recognize their lacking knowledge to acquire the minimum necessary qualities, abilities, and interpersonal skills, and be able to objectively evaluate and enhance their strengths. Based on the spirit of Niijima Jo, the university founder, emphasizing "valuing each individual," students will be able to collaboratively and proactively practice education that supports junior and senior high school students with diverse values.
