Research Framing and Development

AAE900 Research Framing and Development is a dedicated unit of study for all Higher Research Degree candidates in the Faculty of Art and Education. Serving as an introductory exploration of research philosophy the unit aims to demystify research training as an area of learning, and to support commencing candidates to investigate the pursuit of ‘new’ knowledge, the potential of PhD research as a contribution, and to interrogate some of the jargon. It is designed to accompany you over the first few months of your enrolment and scaffold your experience between your general institutional responsibilities and your approach to working with your supervisor. Delivered online, it acts as a guide and a provocation, a resource for students and a portal to information about the reading and writing practices, the Library, Low Risk Ethics, Three Minute Thesis, and the Confirmation Process and your Confirmation Document. The unit is delivered twice a year and its successful completion is a compulsory pre-requisite for the Confirmation of Candidature milestone.
