The Black Intellectual Tradition (3)

Description

This upper-level seminar provides a close and sustained examination of a particular thinker, theory, or critical concept in the Black intellectual tradition. Over the course of the semester, students will learn about theoretical frameworks and concepts that they can apply to central questions in the field of African American Studies and current social discourse. The topic of the course will vary by semester, so students should confer with the program director for the specific thematic focus of the course in a given semester. Potential topics include James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, Black queer theory, Black nationalism, and the Black radical tradition. May be repeated for credit when course content varies.
