The module allows second year students to deepen their awareness of the intellectual and programmatic foundations of architecture and extend their design and representation skills. Knowing: As part of the module, you will develop the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for the design of buildings of medium scale or complexity. Acting: Adopting a ‘learning by doing’ pedagogy, the module will allow you to explore architectural design as an enquiry activity, encouraging you to investigate notions of contextuality, type and taxonomy, designing for the community, sustainable place-making among many other, as well as exploring and applying principles of building technology and sustainability, informed by the Building Technology Module. Being: Architectural Design 2 is a key step for Year 2 students. Through this module you will continue to develop their explorative mindset and build up their architectural design confidence, through engaging in more complex architectural challenges, contexts and learning from best practice
