Description
Engineering applications of mechanics. Internal forces in trusses, frames, and beams. Bending moment and shear force diagrams. Centre of gravity and centroids of areas. Kinematics of particles and rigid bodies: rectilinear, curvilinear and general plane motion. Kinetics of particles and planar rigid bodies: Newton’s 2nd Law, Principle of Work and Energy, Principle of Impulse and Momentum. Course Format: Lectures, 3 hours per week; tutorial, 1 hour per week Restrictions: Open to BEng majors. Session Availability: Fall
