General Chemistry I
Description
Prerequisite: One year of secondary/high school chemistry 3 lecture hours, 2 lab hours This course starts with the basics of chemistry and chemical reactions. It then gives an insight into the structure of matter and the origin of chemical periodicity. The course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of atomic structure, the periodic table, nomenclature, chemical equations and solutions. The concepts of chemical bonding and molecular structure are also developed. The laboratory sessions are designed to reinforce the lecture material and to allow students to become familiar with the experimental procedures used in chemistry.
