Contemporary anthropological themes: General anthropology

Description

Purpose The course consists of three connected modules, each of which has a thematic focus within the chosen Master’s line. Each module provides the student with knowledge of thematically delimited issues, as well as providing insight into the theories, debates and analytical/methodological approaches that are relevant for the topic. Academic objectives In the evaluation of the student’s performance, emphasis is placed on the extent to which the student is able to: Knowledge 1) acquire specific, in-depth theoretical knowledge within delimited anthropological themes based on leading international research Skills 2) analyse, reflect on and assess selected current issues and recent lines of theory within the chosen topic’s area of interest 3) coherently and independently argue for the choice of theory and the relevance of the literature used 4) independently create an overview of recent research within a specific subject area of current societal relevance, including assessing the sources found Competences 5) assess, account for and analyse a complex academic issue Criteria for evaluating whether learning objectives have been achieved: In the evaluation of the exam performance, emphasis is placed on the extent to which the student is able to: demonstrates in-depth knowledge of central analytical concepts specifically in relation to a given problem statement (1) establishes and develops a stringent anthropological argument (3) demonstrates the ability to critically assess how theories are used in specific analyses of current societal relevance (2, 4, 5)
